Manufacturer of earthenware at the Albion Works, Hanley (Shelton), Stoke-on-Trent, England
  • "John Dimmock & Co. are very large producers of earthenware of superior quality and finish. The firm is very old established." Llewellynn Jewitt, 1878, The ceramic art of Great Britain

  • John Dimmock had been a member of the partnership of Thomas Dimmock (Junr) & Co. This partnership was dissolved in June 1860 and soon afterwards Thomas Died. 

  • The Albion Works works were rebuilt in 1861, new equipment was installed and then the company was renamed John Dimmock & Co from 1862. 

  • John Dimmock (c.1819-66) was chief bailiff of Hanley 1853-4 and mayor in 1860. He rose to the rank of captain in the 1st Company of Hanley Volunteers. People of the Potteries

  • John Dimmock died in October 1866.

  • From c.1878 this company was owned by Mr W. D. Cliff although the company continued to trade as the J. Dimmock & Co. The Cliff name occurs in most of the marks after this date. Godden - Encyclopaedia of British Pottery and Porcelain Marks.
