According to Jewitt - William Emberton purchased the Highgate Pottery from George Hood in 1846.

The partners were: William Emberton of Lime Street, Tunstall; Redulphus Hancock of Liverpool Road, Burslem; Thomas Johnson of Brownhills, Burslem. 

Subsequently: William Emberton & Co

R. Hancock took the High Street works, Burslem in 1850 as R. Hancock & Co
