HEATH -CALDWELL, Frederick Crofton (Major General, R.E.), C.B., J.P. 
Linley Wood, Talke, Stoke-on-Trent.


Born 1858, Merton, Southampton. Son of the late Admiral Sir L. G. Heath, K.C.B.
Educated Royal Military Academy, Woolwich.


Married 1889, Constance Mary, daughter of the late Colonel H. Helsham Jones.


Served with the Egyptian Expedition, 1882; Sudan Expedition, 1885, and South African War, 1899-1902; 
A.A.G., War Office, 1906-08; 
Inspector of R.E., 1908-13, and commanding Scottish Coast Defences, 1913-14; 
Director of Military Training, War Office, 1914-16; 
commanding a Garrison, 1916-18 and Area Commander, R.A.F., 1918-19.
Justice of the Peace for the County of Chester, 1924.

Assumed the additional surname of Caldwell under the will of a great uncle.
