Born 1877 at Longton, Staffs. Son of late George Charles Kent, J.P.
Educated at Blackladies Abbey, Brewood, and Privately.

Married 1902, Winifred Violet, daughter of Isaac Westley, Steephill Cove, Isle of Wight.

Admitted a Solicitor and practised 1899-1914; 
Chairman of Messrs. Taylor & Tunnicliffe & Co., Ltd. of Hanley;
Chairman of the National Council of the Pottery Industry, 1926-28; 
President of N. Staffs. Chamber of Commerce, 1932 to date 1934; 
President of N. Staffs. Branch R.S.P.C.C. 

Justice of the Peace for County of Stafford; 
In 1899 Commissioned 2nd Lieut. 1st Shropshire and Staffs. Royal G.A.; 
Captain 1903; 
Promoted Major, 1908; 
Raised and recruited 2nd Staffs. Battn. R.F.A. and was in Command of Battery in France, 1915; 
Lieut.-Col., 1916; 
Appointed to Command 87th Brigade R.G.A., has held many other important military posts.
