Alderman Samuel Sproston J.P. Mayor 1921-22
Mayor of the County Borough of Stoke-on-Trent

Samuel Sproston lived in Tunstall all his life and the grave is in Tunstall cemetery.

He owned a drapers shop on the corner of St Michaels Road and Rosebery Street.
Samuel was a Sunday school teacher at the local Methodist church and one of his sons, Enoch played the organ.

aged 42 years
