October 2011

'A Century of Song'

a concert held in 2011 to celebrate the 100th Anniversary of
The Porthill Players

Porthill Players - A Century of Song

What’s your favourite song? Most of us at some time have been asked this question and have struggled to reach an answer. Then ask, what‘s your favourite decade and it becomes impossible to reply. The Porthill Players hope to have some of the answers, as they present ‘A Century of Song’.

To celebrate our centenary year and following on from our highly successful production of ‘My Fair Lady’, we performing songs from the early 1900’s right up to the present day. From ‘Anything Goes’ to ‘Songs that Won the War’. We’ll have you jiving in the aisles with a host of Jukebox hits from the 50’s. The Fab Four will be reunited, as will the ever popular Abba. Hits from the Movies and American Classics will be bringing you right up to the present date with the very latest musicals now playing in the West End! Finally we’ll be meeting today’s legends, Madonna and Michael Jackson and then be introducing the latest song sensations like Adele.

This really was an evening of memorable, special, emotive and incredible music from the last 100 years - music that has become the soundtrack of our lives!
