Lichfield Street (along with Victoria Road) is the main road way from Hanley to the town of Fenton. Lichfield Street drops down the hill from Hanley at the top to Leek Road and the area known as Joiners Square at the bottom where the River Trent runs in the valley.

Lichfield Street is cut across at the top by the Potteries Way ring road and about halfway down by the Caldon Canal.

Mr. John Richardson, Oil, Colour, Paint and Varnish Manufacturer occupied number 12, Lichfield Street, Hanley. From: "A descriptive account of The Potteries (illustrated) 1893 advertising and trade journal. Page 32"
