Born 1882, Thornley, Co. Durham. Son of Rev. Thomas K. Upright.
Educated at Elmfield School, York, and Hartley College, Manchester.

Married 1906, Emily, daughter of the late George Wood, Burton-on-Trent.

Entered Ministry, 1902; 
held charges at Douglas, I.O.M.; 
Birkenhead, Oldham, Hindley, Ellesmere Port, Stockport; 
Secretary Manchester and Liverpool District Ministerial Association, 1913-24; 
Secretary Probationer's General Examining Committee, 1924-29; 
Secretary of Conference, 1931-2; President Christian Social Union, 1931-2; 
Member of Town Council, Ellesmere Port, 1924-27; 
Chairman Parks and Libraries Committee, 1925-27; 
Chairman, Stoke and Macclesfield District, 1932, of the Methodist Church.

Recreation-Swimming.
