Bentilee is a large residential district in the eastern part of Stoke-on-Trent, situated between Fenton, Abbey Hulton, and Eaton Park.
It is best known as one of the city’s major post-war housing developments, planned and built largely in the mid-20th century to address housing shortages and improve living conditions across the Potteries.
The area replaced a mix of former farmland and small rural features with a comprehensive layout of housing estates, local centres, schools, and green spaces designed around modern planning principles of the time.
Today, Bentilee remains one of Stoke-on-Trent’s most significant residential communities, with a strong local identity shaped by its planned origins and continuing evolution.
