Norton Streets Past & Present

Norton, in the northern part of Stoke-on-Trent between Smallthorne and Endon, developed from a rural village and agricultural landscape into a residential district during the 19th and 20th centuries. The area gradually expanded as the Potteries grew, with new housing extending along former village routes and into surrounding fields.

This page lists the present and historic streets of Norton and links to descriptions of the origins of street names, old maps, local developments, and the changing character of the district over time. From old village lanes and field boundaries to later residential streets and housing estates, the streets of Norton reflect the gradual suburban expansion of the northern Potteries.

Today, Norton is mainly residential in character, with its street layout still preserving traces of its village origins within the wider Stoke-on-Trent area.
