Norton Green Streets Past & Present

Norton Green, in the northern part of Stoke-on-Trent between Norton and Stockton Brook, developed from a rural hamlet and agricultural landscape into a small residential district during the 19th and 20th centuries.

The area gradually expanded as the Potteries grew, with new housing extending along former village routes and into surrounding fields. Leek Road (now Endon Road) formed the main through route from Burslem to Leek, passing through the area and shaping its early development and settlement pattern.

This page lists the present and historic streets of Norton Green and links to descriptions of the origins of street names, old maps, local developments, and the changing character of the district over time. From old lanes and field boundaries to later residential streets and housing development, the streets of Norton Green reflect the gradual suburban expansion of the northern Potteries.

Today, Norton Green is mainly residential in character, with its street layout still preserving traces of its rural and village origins within the wider Stoke-on-Trent area.
