  • The business was incorporated on the 6th September 1946. It is very likely that Mayer & Sherratt (who used the trade name MELBA) was closed in 1941 under the Wartime Concentration Scheme and reopened as Melba China Co. Ltd. 

  • The business operated at the same works that the Mayer & Sherratt had occupied. The works were renamed from the Clifton Works to the Melba Works.  

  • Melba China Co. Ltd. was a subsidiary of the Lawley Group

  • The business closed around 1951/2
