Various printed, impressed or moulded marks incorporating these initials were used, '& S' or '& Son' added from 1871.

The name 'Brownfield' was also used.

Impressed or moulded marks

In the top mark the initials W B are shown in the bottom sections of the Staffordshire knot.

Above the knot is a faux registration mark and the pattern name.

 

In the bottom moulded mark the initials are at the bottom of the circle and the pattern name "CASHMERE" and town name "COBRIDGE" are also included.

in the centre is a faux registration diamond.

Impressed marks 1860 onwards. The printed name also is used with a crown above.
& SONS After 1876 the earlier "Son" became "Sons"
Printed mark 1871-91

A variation occurs without the words "Trade Mark"

"MADRAS" in this example is the pattern name.

"SADO" is the pattern name - the registration mark is seen to the left
"SADO" is the pattern name - the registration mark is seen to the left

 


Impressed BROWNFIELD mark
the 11/78 is a date mark for November 1878

the circular mark was used to mark such things
as mould numbers - unfortunatly there is no record of the system used
