George Fleet & Co
House Furnishers, funeral undertakers

High Street, Stoke

High Street, Stoke used to run from Church Street at Campbell Place through to Stoke Road (now Hartshill Road) - in the 1950's High Street became part of Church Street and the name High Street was dropped.

In the 1950's there were 13 'High Streets' throughout the city of Stoke-on-Trent and 12 of them were renamed to reduce confusion.

George Fleet & Co. Ltd had their main shop and showrooms at 5 High Street and a branch shop at 22 High Street. They listed their business as including:

  • House furnishers

  • Bedding manufacturers

  • Cabinet manufacturers

  • Upholsterers

  • Funeral Undertakers

They also supplied carpets, wallpaper and fabrics - also they were Agents for the famous Liberty & Co., London.
