c.1843 Thomas William Harrison - born c.1843 at Chelmsford in Essex.
  Employed in Ipswich by the uncle of L. Grimwade the pottery manufacturer (Grimwades Ltd)
c.1863 T.W. Harrison moved to Stoke-on-Trent and invited Sidney Grimwade (brother of Leonard Grimwade) to work for him in Hanley.
  Harrison worked for John Gerrard in Bath Street (later renamed to Garth Street), Hanley; manufacturing colour and glazes. Harrison later owned the business - "The Phoenix Chemical Works
1888 Became a member of the Hanley School Board in 1888 as a member of the non-sectarian group. 
1893 Elected chairman of the Hanley School Board.
1902 Harrison proposed building tenements to rid the towns of slums and provide housing for the very poor. His proposal was for flats, several stories high around a central courtyard which would serve as a communal garden.
1909 T.W. Harrison retired to Bournemouth, where he died on 20th September 1909. 

Thomas William Harrison was a Liberal and was president of Hanley Liberal Association.
Harrison was a member of the Congregational Church and was both president and secretary of the Staffs. Congregational Union. He was also a member of the Congregational national executive.

T.W. Harrison married Marianne Green (who was probably a member of the family which controlled the Crown Staffordshire China Co. Ltd. They had at least 3 sons and 1 daughter. According to the 1881 census the family lived at 'The Hollies', Northwood.
