the original Britannic Pottery signed was revealed after Courtland Fireplaces Ltd closed 
in September 2009

from 1902 until 1926 operated by Dudson, Wilcox, and Till, Ltd.
from 1927 to 1943 operated by Bakewell Brothers 

the Britannic Pottery was built on the front of the Upper Hanley Works, 
which had been in operation since 1863

Courtland Fireplaces was founded at the top of Gilman Street in 1964 it then relocated 
to the lamphouse within the former Hanley Deep Pit -  it moved to this location in 1993.
