C. H. Burton

The name C.H. Burton appears as part of the printed backstamp on a wide range of Regal Pottery hand-painted wares.

  • Although often described as the painter, the appearance of the mark on numerous different shapes and patterns suggests that Burton was more likely the designer or artistic director responsible for the patterns, rather than the individual decorator of each piece.

  • The small hand painted marks sometimes found on individual items may instead identify the decorators who carried out the work.

  • The hand painted numbers are possibly a pattern reference.
